about

Here's a relatively short thing I've been fooling around with, on a very on-and-off basis, since April this year. I didn't want it to become a full album — I wanted to keep it as an EP since even though it's inspired by a movie, it's not a soundtrack, but rather an essay I would've written if I still had it in me to write about stuff I care about.

So, I've seen "Dark City," a 1998 neo-noir sci-fi movie directed by Alex Proyas, a couple of months ago. Somehow I missed it when I was younger. Somehow I didn't even know it existed — even though it's something I definitely should've known about and raved about for the past ten years or so.

And now, somehow, after months since seeing it for the first time, I still can't stop thinking about it — it keeps coming back, and I don't even know why.

It's not the best movie I've ever seen. But its aesthetics, mood, and its peculiar, strangest vibe keep coming back to me regularly. So I definitely recommend watching this quirky, mad, unique piece of art...

Here's an EP inspired by this damn thing. I hope that it will leave me in peace now!

And huge thanks to Jenna for the recommendation.
